The MCEDU Community

The short version

You connect your Discord account on the website, pick a username, and the community provisions a Microsoft account for you on @themcedu.onmicrosoft.com. Your sign-in details are sent privately — never posted publicly.

Step by step

  1. Join the Discord server and open the website.
  2. Connect Discord. The site asks Discord to confirm who you are (username and ID only). We never post as you and never see your password.
  3. Choose a username. Letters, numbers, and underscores. It becomes the first part of your email address. Usernames are first-come, first-served, and one account per person.
  4. Account creation. Once provisioning is live, your community Microsoft account is created automatically.
  5. Get your login details. The website shows them once and our bot sends them to you in a private Discord DM. If your DMs are closed, you can still retrieve them on the website right after creation.
  6. Sign in. Use the email and temporary password at Microsoft's sign-in page. Microsoft will ask you to choose a new password the first time — pick a strong one and keep it private.
  7. Keep your window open. Your license spot is held for 10 minutes. If it closes before you sign in, use the Renew button on the website (or /account → renew license in Discord) to open a fresh window.

Free Minecraft logins

Every account comes with Microsoft's free Minecraft Education trial — 10 sign-ins for student accounts (25 for faculty). A sign-in is used each time the game starts with your account, and trials cannot be refreshed on the same account, so open your license window first and then launch the game. If you run out, the game drops to a limited demo — ask staff in the Discord server about your options.

Current status

Account creation is live. Connect Discord on the home page to create your account right away. For news and events, join the announcements channel in the Discord server.

Rules that apply

Accounts are for personal use. Do not sell, share, or trade accounts, and do not use them to harass others or break Discord's or Microsoft's terms. The full rules live in the Discord server's rules channel.
